On the 30th April 2018, over 70 people attended a global Charity Day for Project Management Professionals hosted by Wellingtone and supported by Microsoft.

The Annual Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS) took place for the second time at the Microsoft Reactor space in London. Over 25 charities came including; World Animal Protection, Marie Curie, Macmillan, CLIC Sargent & Frontline Aids to receive free pro-bono consultancy across strategy and planning, PMO, project management and marketing.

Project Management Day of Service 2019 - Wellingtone PPM (PMDoS)“A wonderful day of geeking out on project management challenges and finding workable and inspiring solutions to boost our efficiency and engagement.” Lead Programmes – Frontline Aids

Over 30 Consultants kindly offered their time to work with a Charity. Consultants came from organisations across industry including; RSM UK, Coventry Building Society, Vodafone, Rolls-Royce. Both the Charity and Consultant(s) were matched together based upon the requirements of the charity and the skills of the Consultant.

This is a must-attend event for any project management or PMO professionals within the Charity sector. At present there is no other event of its kind and Wellingtone are extremely proud to deliver this to their beloved industry.

Project Management Day of Service was started in 2014 in the US by PM4Change. The Wellingtone partnership with PM4Change, means we are the exclusive UK Partner for this amazing event.

“Project Management Day of Service 2019 is one of the best events I have attended in relation to my role as a PMO. Highly recommended. Thank you Wellingtone for putting on a fantastic event and thanks to all the Consultants who gave their time.” Project Analyst – Sightsavers

The day started with a presentation from the Managing Director of Wellingtone, Vince Hines who gave some insight into the world of project management and shared some advice on how to improve best practice and increase your maturity within your organisation.

“The passion to make a difference from those working in the charity sector can lead to a heavy, possibly over ambitious, project workload. The benefits of best practice project & portfolio management can therefore make a significant direct difference. The Project Management Day of Service provides an opportunity for these worthwhile causes to lever some of the best PPM minds, take some time out of the day to day, and reset their PPM maturity. I’m proud that my colleagues at Wellingtone see this as one of the most important days of our annual calendar, as it gives us an opportunity, in our small way, to contribute & give back.”#PMDoS is an amazing initiative that helps us at Wellingtone; and our friends in industry, to give back to those that support the most vulnerable every day.” Vince Hines, Managing Director – Wellingtone

The Charities and Consultants worked together over three hours; with a delicious buffet lunch served in between, of course. There was a buzz in the air as the Consultants shared their advice, plans and tactics to resolve some of their business pain points and guided them with clear strategies to work with.

PMDoS is an amazing initiative that helps us at Wellingtone; and our friends in industry, to give back to those that support the most vulnerable every day.
I am very proud that PMDoS in the UK is showing growth from one event to the next, and the feedback we receive from the charities is really tremendous.
Thanks to everyone who gave their space, time, and wisdom for our April 2019 event. Emma-Ruth Arnaz-Pemberton, Director of Consulting Services – Wellingtone

The next Project Management Day of Service will take place in April 2020 and this time we’re aiming to go bigger.

“The Project Management Day of Service was an excellent use of my time to talk to people outside the day to day office environment to share my thinking and assumptions on current problems I’m facing as part of my role. The consultants provided were great at sharing both their personal experiences and how it related back to theory, along with tools and materials to take away from the day and share with the team when I got back to the office.” Head of PMO – Citizens Advice
