We have had a few questions from clients recently when connecting their Projects from Microsoft Project Professional. We felt it would be good to share the details of the errors in case you come across them.

1) Error with retrieving Enterprise Global

Some of the users who have been using Project Professional to manage their projects have had this error appear.

These users have the necessary access setup and have previously been using Project professional without any issues. This usually happens when the stored credentials have been lost due to a recent Microsoft Office or a browser-related patch applied to the user’s machine. This error is quite easy to fix.

    1. Firstly, the users have to clear their browser cache and credentials stored in the browser
    2. Then, the users will need to clear the existing profiles stores in Project Professional following the below steps
      • Open Project Professional by selecting ‘Computer’ as the account

    • Click on File > Info > Project Web App Accounts

    • Select the “Computer” account and ‘Set as default’ if its already not the default
    • Select the other accounts one by one and Click ‘Remove’

    • Close Project Professional and open the project again to test.

2) Invalid Cache location

When clearing cache files or when reconfiguring the cache settings, some users have inadvertently deleted the cache folder as a whole causing the below error.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Create a New Folder on the C drive or My documents folder called “ProjectCache”
  2. Copy the path to the folder
  3. Open Project >> File >> Options >> Save >> Update the path to the new folder from Step 2 in the cache location
  4. Press Ok >> Close down Project Professional
  5. Test again
