The 3-day Wellingtone PMO Leader training course is exclusively for those who have already completed the Wellingtone PMO Practitioner training course.  This truly ground-breaking and innovative course is designed for those pioneering the PMO in their organisations, who want to venture into new and uncharted territory dealing with the most challenging aspects of leading a PMO.

This course pushes the boundaries of PMO learning as it is the first of its kind with Project-based Learning at its core to encourage critical thinking and reflective practice over an extended period, supported by our most senior PMO consultants through regular mentoring sessions over a 60 day period.

It’s aimed at experienced and passionate PMO practitioners who want to be at the forefront of PMO theory and practice and make their PMOs critical to business. It focuses on the dark arts of PMOs, such as benefits realisation, resource and knowledge management, and it will expose delegates to the latest thinking and trends shaping the future PMO. Designed with impact at its heart to ensure that your PMO and organisation get a solid return on investment through beneficial change.

This course is exclusively only available to delegates that have already completed the Wellingtone PMO Practitioner training course.

Following two months of mentoring, the delegates will be asked to present their project back to the group and show their approach, progress, journey, and learnings. Successful candidates are awarded their Wellingtone Accredible certificate recognising their achievements.

No, but they are highly recommended, since they will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, receive advisory, and ensure that you are progressing as per plan.

We believe that it is important that we share the same understanding of PMOs, and therefore successful participation in the PMO Practitioner course is a pre-requisite for the PMO Leader course. However, the two courses can be booked together at a discounted rate through our PMO Academy to accelerate your PMO learning journey.

The PMO Practitioner provides a number of concepts that need to be understood before our delegates can undertake the PMO Leader course. This avoids having to go over the same topics for those that have attended the PMO-P course, and allows us to use the whole time to focus on the topics pertinent to PMO Leaders.

The course will involve some lecturing, but we will also have individual and teamwork exercises, there will be a case study that will accompany us throughout the course content, and fun and interactive games.

Public courses are costed at £1,995 and include training materials, lunch, refreshments throughout the day, as well as 90-days mentoring. In-house courses are available too.

You will be assessed based on the impact you have delivered to your PMO and organisation as a result of the PMO Leader course. This approach addresses one of the key shortcomings of traditional training and is based in the Kirkpatrick model of evaluation:

Kirkpatrick Model of Evaluation

In practical terms, this means no written, multiple-choice assessments or interviews but instead a critical review by your PMO Leader classmates on how you have implemented a certain approach/tool in responding to a specific PMO challenge. Your PMO challenge is explained at the beginning of the PMO course, a proposed plan is drafted and presented on the last day of the course, and after 90 days you will come back to present the results of your intervention to the class.

We live in uncertain times, so Wellingtone apply a #HumanFirst approach to our cancellation policies!

You can cancel anytime up to 14 days before the course and request a full refund. Alternatively, we do allow for you to postpone your course once to a future course without charge providing you notify us within 3 days notice; this is to allow Wellingtone to fill your space. No-shows or cancellations within 3 days are not entitled to a refund without extenuating circumstances.

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which delegates “gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.” (PBLWorks)

It demands commitment and you will need to use critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and various forms of communication to create high-quality work that will be used by your PMO and in your organisation.

The course requires commitment. Although you will only need to be away from work for 3 days, the overall duration of the course includes a 90-days period of mentoring, followed by an on-site day in classroom (where appropriate), where you will present the results of your work to the class.

Aimed at experienced and passionate PMO practitioners who want to be at the forefront of PMO theory and practice and make their PMOs critical to business. Typically, these would be individuals who have been working in a PMO management position for at least 5 years.
